How cool is this! Let me know what you think….I think it really captures the spirit of the book, mysterious, sad and creepy!

I am just about to head off for 10 glorious days in Devon. I have a new book to write and lots of ideas cooking! I can’t wait to sit down with my notebook and pen and start scribbling away. My favourite way of starting a new book – away from the computer and all the other distractions of my daily life. Hope you all have a fab holiday and look out for Phoebe in your local library as it’s been picked for the summer libraries reading challenge!

On Tuesday 31st May I was lucky enough to appear at the fantastic Hay Festival. After watching a brilliant Michael Morpurgo talk with my eldest son Callum, it was my turn to meet some fans!! Packed into the Starlight theatre we had an hour of fun and games (Freddy, son no.2, was particularly funny). After the event we all trouped to the bookshop for a signing. A brilliant day that I’ll never forget!!

Fantastic news!!! Usborne have bought my new book, BUTTERFLY SUMMER. It will be published in the Summer of 2012 and it’s not connected to the STARMAKERS series. It’s about obsessive friendship, family secrets and a promise that can’t be kept. I’ve only just started writing but it’s going well! Watch this space for more developments!!!

Last Wednesday I had the most fantastic visit to Martin Primary school just up the road from where I live. I knew so many of the children and Pat Bulman the Literacy Coordinator couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. After four lively drama sessions and an assembly to all of KS2 I sat out in the winter sunshine to sell books. Let’s just say, it didn’t take long to sell out and I am returning tomorrow with the extra copies I had to order to meet the demand! Thank you to everyone there for making it such a lovely day.
P.S Really liked some of the childrens’ names too – for future characters….Roman, Lavina – you know who I’m talking about!
